The Exfoliation Process

To exfoliate means to remove the oldest dead skin cells that run the risk of clogging your pores.  This is probably one of the most important methods to help maintain the skin and to prevent face acne.  To exfoliate could involve a professional “facial”, usually a process that may involve a variety of skin care treatments like steaming, exfoliating, extraction, creaming, and massage.  You can have a facial procedure supervised by your dermatologist or visit a skin care specialist’s clinic. Or you can exfoliate at home.

The word exfoliate originally comes from the Latin word, “exfoliare” which means “to strip of leaves” but over time the meaning changed and now, in this post modern age it now referred to remove or peel flakes of skin in the medical sense.  Ultimately, the process of exfoliation delves more towards cleaning the outer surface of the skin from dead skin cells that are major causes of pimples and face acne as they are likely to clog your pores.

Exfoliation can be done in two ways: either mechanical or chemical ways.  The mechanical exfoliation simply involves a do it your own exfoliation using the prescribed acne face wash available in the market followed by acne lotions.  Mechanical exfoliates also include microfiber cloth, exfoliation sheets that would aid you in the process.  Chemical exfoliations are done as supervised by a dermatologist.  It is can be very beneficial to prevent help with acne.

Our skin rejuvenates new cells every now and then and if you don’t properly remove them then they are likely to give the skin an ashy, uneven skin tone.  The process of exfoliation allows you to reveal the newer skin beneath the outer layer of dead and old skin cells.  Scrubbing or peeling away skin cells is not a dangerous process, and instead it is highly recommended to make way for the natural revitalization of your skin. Exfoliation also prevents skin wrinkles. The shedding of these dead skin cells will prevent them from clogging your pores, thus, helping to prevent acne breakouts.

However, it is advisable not to over exfoliate the skin as that would eventually dry it, just the same as over washing your skin more than twice a day.  Always remember that our skin has its own natural way of revitalizing and moisturizing its own through secreting natural oils.  The main purpose of exfoliation is to aid the skin in doing so.  Over exfoliation tends to dry the skin and may also irritate it.

Moving right along, vitamin E is the next vitamin that we are going to talk about and this particular vitamin is to repair the skin that is already rough. It too is actually an antioxidant that can help your skin really look its best!
