Some Natural Acne Treatments
These days if you are suffering from acne you are actually lucky because you have so many options for acne treatment. While natural home made remedies may work for some, these days you also have a wide range of over the counter products, medications and even cosmetic surgical procedures to choose from in fighting acne. While that is great, sometimes the natural remedies are still the best. In any case they are certainly the cheapest and are worth a try, especially if you are dealing with a mild to moderate case of acne.
To reduce swelling and inflammation you can use both aloe vera and nutmeg. Aloe vera is well known for these properties and it also improves the appearance of your skin. Nutmeg may not be as well known, but it works and also improves your skin tone. Aloe vera can be applied directly to your skin and nutmeg should be mixed with milk for a cleansing facial tonic.
It’s a well known fact that acne is caused by bacteria so having something to fight the bacteria is a good strategy. Both honey and garlic are known to have antibacterial properties and can both be used to help with your acne problems. Garlic will not only disinfect, it also has some healing properties and will help the blemishes fade even faster. Honey makes a good mask as it not only disinfects, it will also remove shallow blackheads.
Sulfur is also good for killing bacteria and it also helps to dry out excess oil. Using a sulfur containing soap will help reduce your acne problems. The mineral chromium is necessary for healing and adding more of it to your diet can help to heal pimples and prevent future breakouts. Tomatoes and onions are both good sources of chromium.
Vitamin A is actually the basis of the well known acne product Retin-A and getting more vitamin A in your diet can help by repairing damaged skin as well as replacing dead skin cells. Carrots and sweet potatoes both contain high levels of vitamin A.
Water is the bodies’ natural cleanser and helps to wash toxins out of our systems. To keep your skin at its best you should be drinking a minimum of 68 ounces of water daily. Don’t rule out natural acne treatment as a way to combat your acne problems. Sometimes the old tried and true methods are still the best.
