Lemon Juice For Acne Scars
For those unfortunate people for whom an acne breakout entails large ugly pustules, acne scars will be far more obvious and long-lasting. However, there is a whole host of things to consider when trying to figure out how to get rid of acne scars, including, for example, lemon juice, as we will discuss here.
Lemon juice will be unlikely to entirely eliminate the scarring, but that is not really the point; it does reduce its visibility. The main purpose of the juice is to stimulate the new cells to form and develop, and as they grow they will replace the dead cells – a secondary purpose of the juice is simply to slough away the dead cells directly. Religiously applying lemon juice to your face will definitely diminish the discoloration over time. Refurbished skin will lessen the appearance of the scar and make it far less noticeable. As a matter of fact, the benefits are sometimes so obvious that the scars disappear altogether; results vary between people.
Lemon juice contains a citric acid component and as a result you may feel a slight stinging sensation; do not worry about this as it is a perfectly normal skin reaction to this sort of natural chemical. Start out by washing your face with water only, and then massage the affected area gently with lemon juice applied to a piece of cotton. If the stinging is too severe and uncomfortable, consider diluting it somewhat with water. Leave the juice on for ten or twenty minutes and then wash it all off with a mild soap.
Both age and the seriousness of the scar are factors that determine the effectiveness of lemon juice as a treatment. Serious acne scarring is best treated by a more thorough system like dermabrasion or laser treatment. Always consult dermatologists for any severe problems; any random questions you might have will be answered easily.
